Cadiz - Day 18

We woke up at eight o’clock to go catch a bus to La Linea, which is the Spanish city next to Gibraltar. We crossed the border to “England” and spent the day on the first of Hercules’ pillars. We could see the other one in Africa across the sea. We took a cable car to the top, and the first thing we saw was a monkey. There were also two others nearby cleaning each other. We walked around the station before walking down to St. Michal’s cave. The cave was amazing! It had so many stalagmites and stalactites. It was so beautiful and it took millions of years to form naturally. There was an underground stage too, it was very wet and drippy though.

After the cave we walked back, saw more monkeys, and continued on to find the siege tunnels. We went on for so long that we had given up on the tunnels, and just tried to get to the bottom. Then we found the tunnels. We saw inside, but we could only stay a few minutes so we wouldn’t miss our bus back. We also stopped at a castle where Alia put bunny ears on a monkey sitting outside.

After finally making it down the mountain we got some Subway sandwiches, and took a three hour bus ride back.

  1. Yeah Spain! We were very excited to see Spain win the World Cup. We even had Spanish tapas for lunch that day while we watched the game - jamon, sangria, calamari, and chocolat con churros.

I love to read your blog. And the pictures that are posted are incredible!

    Take care,

    Love Tanya
