Niagara Falls Day 3 and 4

In the morning we cleaned everything up and got ready for the family reunion. Then we played outside riding bikes and running around. We also played with the iPods inside.

When the people got here we went around and met everyone. Alex and Finley were here from last night. We swam in the river a lot. We mostly hung around and Uncle Brad made steaks for dinner.

The next day we went to Marine Land with Alex and Finley. We saw seals and sea lions first, and then we saw the deer. After that we climbed a hill and everyone except for me and the adults went on the sky screamer. We went on a ride like the scrambler and then the older kids went on a rollercoaster with my mom. JF wasn’t feeling great after so he stopped going on rides. We saw more deer, some elk, and buffalo, before walking back to go on a ride like the spinning teacups. Next crossed the fish pond and saw the beluga whales. We went on six small rides and then had a lunch break. After lunch we saw the show, which was really cool and very funny. We watched dolphins, sea lions, and a walrus perform tricks. After the show we visited the killer whales and more belugas which splashed me in the face. We went on some small rides after that and then went home.

When we got back we went in the river because it was so hot, and then Isaac and Libby came. I played with Libby, we did Mad Libs and we went on Ellie’s trampoline. Isaac showed us his really cool transformers and how they changed and went together.

Niagara Falls Day 2

This morning after breakfast we decided to bike for a while and then go frogging. We were very successful in catching a frog and we put it in a bucket of water. While we were doing that I spotted a rock that turned out to be a huge snapping turtle. Grandpa picked it up from behind and we touched its tail. Then it peed on him… twice. We put it in the brook by his pond and watched it. I went next door to ask if Ellie could come see. She was having a family reunion so she brought her cousins.

We had to get interviewed for nexus passes so we left around two to get interviewed. We were there for just over an hour when we got back. When we got back we drove down to the dock and rode back up in Grandpa’s boat. Then we rode bikes and looked for more frogs because ours escaped. Ellie and her cousin Ben came back over and we played spud and catch. He told me about the book he wrote and I bought one. After dinner we went swimming in the river. We collected more seaweed and swam around the boat. When it got dark we had a bonfire. Ellie and her cousins joined us roasting marsh mellows. It was a long and busy day and I think today will be the same.

Sorry for slowed posts, we have no internet here.

Niagara Falls Day 1

Today we left for Niagara Falls. We watched Harry Potter 7 part one in the car on the way there. When we got there we sorted out the beds and played with our cousins JF and Alex.

In the evening we went out for dinner at a restaurant and had putine. When we got back we went for a swim in the river. We found huge globs of seaweed and had a seaweed war. We had to come back after a few minutes because it was getting dark.

Oakville Day 7

Today we went to meet my friend from preschool Samantha, at a water park. She has two brothers, Alexander and Isaac who are Alia and Lukas’ age. Samantha and I went down and waded in Lake Ontario while we caught up. Sam is on the Canadian national dance team and she has competed in Germany and meddled. She also skipped fourth grade and is going into tenth. We played on the splash pad with our siblings and we sat on the swings. She couldn’t stay long though because she lives in London, Ontario and they had a long drive home.

We came back here where Alia and I took down our fort and cleaned up the basement. Our second cousins came over after dinner and we played MASH and MadLibs together. They brought homemade cupcakes, which were really yummy. We also took warped pictures of each other with Alia’s iPod and Alyssa’s DSi. Right now Alia is watching the movie we filmed of each other. Maybe we could post a few later.

Oakville Day 6

We didn’t do that much today. For lunch we went to this really cool restaurant called Pearl. When we sat down people brought trays of food around without us ordering it. Some of it was really good and some of it I didn’t like. I really liked the pork buns, and they had one dish they called hockey pucks which was shrimp and veggies in a patty shape. Lukas ate most of those.

After lunch we had to go walk on the pier in very humid weather. We went in this museum that was really scary. I didn’t like the way the art made me feel, most of it was videos projected on walls and they were creepy. I was glad when we moved on.

We walked along the water until we came to this deck that had been made like a wave. It went up and down and different parts had different heights. We played on the wave deck for a while and then went for ice cream.

Back at Taita and Jiddo’s we played in the basement and in our fort. Mom and Dad went out and Alia and I read for a few hours.

Oakville Day 5

Colette and Jonah left today. They are going to Hawaii for the rest of their vacation, we said good bye in the morning and Jiddo took them to the airport. The rest of the day was really awesome. We went to the Hockey Hall of Fame and it was amazing! We saw lots of famous players and their old gear, and they had Sidney Crosby’s gloves, stick, puck and net that he scored the winning Olympic goal with. We watch a movie about hockey players and what their daily life is like, it was really funny. Ben and I played this cool game where you shoot pucks at a goalie on a screen and try to score; it’s harder than it looks. Ben didn’t get any goals, but I got one. Alia played another game and she was a goalie. There would be a game clip on the screen in front of her and then a puck would shoot out of the wall; she made four saves out of five! We walked to the other side to go see the Stanley Cup, and Dad took a picture of us touching it.

After that we went to meet Uncle Mark at this huge indoor market for lunch. They were filming a commercial for one of the stores there, and speaking of commercials, Michelle got to meet Alex Ovechkin at the airport because he was filming a commercial!

We went back to the Hall of Fame after lunch and watched a movie about the Stanley Cup. On the way out we picked up some Hockey memorabilia, and I got a cool shirt. Alia almost went insane because of all the Luongo stuff they had in there.

We drove to Bella’s house next for a visit. We mostly just talked, cooked and Dad took pictures of everyone. Uncle John made so much food there and it was really good. There was cheese and lamb on sticks for appetizers, pork sandwiches and homemade pizza for dinner, and pie and ice cream for dessert. After dinner we listened to the record player and Uncle John put on different records, it was amazing. They also have a typewriter, but it doesn’t work anymore. All in all it was a long exciting day, today we are just going to take it easy, maybe go see a move, and hang out.

Oakville Day 4

This morning we went to Toronto Island or Center Island. We drove there and took a ferry to the island. We went to a small amusement park on the island, but we had some trouble getting passes because Uncle Mark had them and he wasn't there yet. The first ride we went on was a log ride, I didn't go on it the first two times. Then we went on the scrambler, it was cool because it was dark and there was cool music. We went on a small dragon roller coaster, and bumper cars. I've got some new bruises from that one. We went on a frog ride and a boat ride. When we went back to the log ride a third time I finally went on it. We went on the scrambler three more times and then we went on the sky ride, which was just a chair lift with umbrellas. We did bumper boats and the swan ride, but our swan was really slow. We went on a weird haunted ride that was really cheesy. After getting ice cream we went for a walk though a garden and put our feet in the water on the other side.

The ferry took us back and I fell asleep in the car. Back here we played hide and seek, and we will have to go to bed soon.

Oakville Day 3

Today was the big family reunion. Before anyone came we went swimming at the community pool. I had to help Uncle Henry watch Jonah. We were there until lunch time and then we came home.

We had some pizza for lunch, and then the relatives started showing up. Alyssa and Jenna came first, Alyssa is my age and Jenna is Alia's. We built a huge fort in the basement, and there were lots of people. Some of the younger kids made a mess with food in the house, so Taita told Alyssa and I to keep them outside unless they had to use the bathroom. We cleaned up the basement and helped my Aunt wash dishes. After everyone left it was late, so we went straight to bed.

Oakville Day 2

I got to hang out with my cousins some more yesterday. We went to go see the new Cars movie, it was great. We went to the Roots store outlet and everyone got zip hoodies, mine is blue. Back at the house we made forts in the basement out of sheets and tables. Uncle Mark brought his dog, Coco over and we played catch in the backyard.

For dinner we walked to the Swiss Chalet down the street. It is a tradition to go there every time we come because we can't go in California. I had a chicken sandwich and Caesar salad. They have a special sauce for their chicken that you can only get there, and it's really good. I won a free garlic loaf from one of those restaurant contests that they had. It was pretty cool because I was the only one who had a sticker that said winner.

Today we are having a big family reunion of cousins and second cousins and aunts and uncles and great aunts and uncles, all from my Dad's side. We are about to leave for the pool, and we will swim there while some of the Dad's and Uncles get ready for the party.

Oakville Day 1

Yesterday was our first day here. Our cousins on my Dad’s side came from Connecticut and met us here. Alia and I spent all morning playing with Colette. We built a fort out of sheets, played baseball in the basement, and we played truth or dare.

In the afternoon we went to Alex and Jamie’s house. David and Serena were also there. I had never met Serena before, but she was really nice. We played a game of catch with David’s dad and I won because I dropped it the least amount of times. We played a game in the basement where we turned off all the lights and chased each other around. Everyone Alex, Jamie, David, Alia, and I played hockey on the road and I used one of Jamie’s sticks. I watched Alia and Jamie play a hockey video game, Alia scored on herself twice and lost badly. When it finally got dark, we lit fireworks. I got to light a few, and it was very cool. After the fireworks we drove back to Taita and Jiddo’s house and went to sleep, I am not sure what we are doing today, but I will report on it tonight or tomorrow morning.

Camp Addlington and More

9 days left until Canada!

After hockey on Saturday we went to Ryan and Claudine's house. We swam in the pool, and I had lots of fun tipping Alia, Ben and Lukas off of the floating chairs. We had pasta and cake for dinner and then went in the pool again. This time everyone was trying to catch me. We watched Yogi Bear before going to bed. In the morning we woke up and made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. After eating we watched Animal Planet because it was too early to lave for our hockey game. When we finally did leave we got there half an hour early.

In the changing room I stole Chase's sock tape (tape that keeps hockey socks from falling off). I was put on the dark team, and Alia was the only goalie, so she played against the tire again. First off Coach Pat put me in at center and I have never played center before. It was not pretty, I lost the faceoffs and I was confused. He finally put me back at right wing and then I was ok. We didn't win, but we had some great plays. I felt bad for Alia because she compared herself to the tire and felt like she couldn't do anything.

We had stage coach after, so I bought her some gummy bears. We had a lot of tours and I talked with the older docents a lot. Tomorrow we have a luncheon there and I am getting my five year pin.

Since I wrote last I have finished Peeps and its sequel The Last Days. I like the first book better, the second one wasn't as good. I also read Touching Spirit Bear and its sequel Ghost of Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelson. They were both really good. Now I am reading Brandon Mull's most recent book The Beyonders: A World Without Heroes.

This summer I have also built a robot out of Lego. His name is ET (Electronic Terrestrial) and he dances when I play music. I will try to get some pictures of him dancing :)

Hi everyone I'm back!

11 more days until we leave for Canada!

So far this summer has been mostly hanging around and going to hockey practice. Yesterday we went to the beach for a change. The water here is freezing compared to what it was in Spain. We saw some dolphins just beyond the surf, and Alia and her friend Jackson found some sand crabs.

Today we have hockey, we will probably leave in 15 min. After that we are going to Ryan and Claudine's house for the night. I've never spent the night there, but my siblings have while I was in NYC.

I have been reading and drawing a lot, I might put some pictures of the drawings up later. This summer I have read two Temperance Brennan books, a book called Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey by Margret Peterson Haddix, Beastly by Alex Flinn, The Chaos by Rachel Ward, and I am currently reading Peeps by Scot Westerfeild. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but I am trying to pace myself so that I have stuff to read all summer. Besides all the books except the Tempe Brennan ones have been read since this Thursday when I went to the library... It's Saturday now...I will make sure to keep you all updated with what I am reading this summer.

I have to go to hockey practice now, but I will try to write tomorrow about our adventures at camp Addlington!
